A small group of us have been working together since last year to get a concrete skatepark built and
we want North Yorkshire Council to transfer the old Overdale school site to us as a community
asset so that it can be used to build the skatepark and also for other things which will benefit our
community.
There is already a pump track on the site which can be renovated for bicycle users and there are
plans for a bike library where anyone can borrow a bike and use it for tootling around the track or
the town. In the future, if we raise enough money we could have a cafe, toilets and a tuck shop as
well.
Our local councillor, Tony Randerson, is involved in the discussion with North Yorkshire Council
and has given us his full support along with Scarborough MP Sir Robert Goodwill.
Eastfield Town Council have pledged £25k along with another £25k from the PACT Regeneration
group using the monies from the sale of land for the new housing estates.
We have set up a JustGiving page so any donation, big or small, will help us to achieve our goal.
Until we secure a site we can’t apply for any other funding so we need to work together, so please do your bit and sign the petition to help make this happen!
